  • Dark-eyed juncoes prefer to visit the Cumberland River Basin during the colder winter months. These “snowbirds” are usually seen from October to April. 
  • A flock of juncoes is known as a blizzard.
  • Junco’s will flash their white tails at one another to signal danger. 
  • This species is a common visitor to bird feeders that are maintained through the winter.
