  • The call of an eastern screen owl is more of a spine-tingling whinney than a screech. 
  • This little robin-sized owl’s is nicknamed the “feathered wildcat.” 
  • Nocturnal and well hidden, eastern screech owls are surprisingly abundant and well adapted to urban areas. They’ve been found along busy highways and atop street lights. 
  • Eastern screech owls remarkable camouflage can make them almost indistinguishable from trees.
